Mari spent her early career at global branding agencies such as Landor and Red Antler, and later joined Google’s Jigsaw to lead their rebrand and manage brand creative.
In 2022, she founded Sibling, a cross-cultural branding consultancy that supports Japanese companies entering the U.S. market. Through this work, she focuses on translating cultural nuance into compelling brand expressions from strategy to messaging to design, leading initiatives that bridge business and culture across borders.
Mari has worked with a range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to emerging startups across industries and scales. Past clients include: Google, Frito Lay, Bose, Johnson + Johnson, J.P. Morgan, United Airlines, Zillow, Levain Bakery, and Thrive Market. Japanese brands include NOT A HOTEL, Suntory, Ajinomoto, Panasonic, PowerX, J.League, and more.
Mari holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she studied Graphic Design. She is also an active member of the U.S.-Japan Council. as an Emerging Leader and community organizer.
Mari is born, raised, and based in New York City. She still can’t drive a car.
